Honorary Membership

This is awarded to long standing members of EBCC who have served and supported the club over the years in a variety of ways.
This is a message from the latest Honorary member of EBCC.

"I would like to thank the club for making me an Honorary Member.
I saw on the agenda at the AGM mention of life membership. I thought that the matter was to be discussed. I did not think that the deed had been done.
It is an honour to be recognised for doing something that you enjoy. I have made a lot of very good friends through cycling and hope to continue for some time yet.
Thank you again for this honour and I hope that you all have a safe and successful season."

EBCC Rider Profile - David Pullan

There are several EBCC riders who some of the club members, particularly the new Saturday Kid's Club riders, don't recognise because they no longer attend Saturday morning sessions. They are still vitally important to the club and continue to get coaching support but have limited involvement with the weekly sessions.

David Pullan is one of those riders. He is a first year Under 16 rider who used to regularly attend Saturday Bike Club until the last few months. He is now focusing on track competitions and has rapidly developed into a very promising young rider, both on the road and the track.

National track Championsips Manchester 2011

In 2009/2010 he was the British Schools Cycling Association Regional Champion for Hard track and won the Best All Rounder Competition. In 2011/2012, he was the Regional Hill Climb, Rollers and Hard Track Champion.

Winning the BSCA Hill Climb 2011

GHS Final 10mile TT 2011

From starting racing at the Manchester velodrome, he has now progressed to the Friday night league and on the 9th march had three wins at MRTL and a 3rd place + finishing well in the 64 lap scratch attacking along the way, He is down to ride the Dolan series and is guesting for the Liverpool Mercury Team at the Tour of he was invited and to be Managed by ex pro and national champ Phil Thomas, He rides ACT senior group 2 Mondays , trains on the road Wednesdays , MRTL fridays group 4 and then any races at the weekend.

He is making rapid progress on the road, achieving an excellent 6th place in race 2 at the Southport Dolan series last weekend. Last year he was 6th Overall in the White Rose Youth league Series 2011 and came 4th in the Finale.
White Rose Youth league 2011 Finale

He has really developed his fitness, speed and tactical awareness over the last twelve months to the extent that he has represented EBCC at all the road and track Regional Schools of Racing run by British Cycling Talent Development Coaches and at the National schools in road and track.

EBCC Coaches continue to support him via selection for the RSR's, feedback from the sessions and suggestions in discussion with his father over training options. Family is vital to the development of the career of our youth riders and David's father, Adrian, gives total support for David to acheive his goals.

Although not 100% at the moment, we wish Adrian a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back at the training and racing as soon as possible.

EBCC Bolton Abbey Club Run

With Kettlewell Youth Hostel Weekend cancelled and the weather forecast looking promising, 24 riders set off from Ilkley, riding to the Cavendish via Burnsall and Appletreewick. This time we were prepared with picnics, (well most of us), blankets and frisbess for another social ride out.

Glorious sunshine meant that jackets and arm warmers were soon discarded as the mist lifted off the tops of the hills. It is hoped that many more of these club runs will be organised throughout the year, both for the social side and longer development rides for the 12+ age group.

Many thanks to all those who came out for the day.

If any parent out there wants to plan a route to a different area, just lket Mandy know.

Olmypic Roller Challenge

The last of the sponsor forms have now been handed in . The final sum is a fantastic total of £863.71. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for every km they cycled helping the team to get not only to the Olympic village in London but back again. As some of you may know BMW have matched every penny raised which amounts to a grand amount of £1727.42.

We will be having a grand award presentation on Saturday 31st March and the winners of the design a shirt competition held at BMW will also be announced.

Club Saturday 17th March

Mandy and Joanne will be at a BC conference in York so neither of us will be at club. A helping hand would be appreciated with signing on and bikes signing in and out. If any mum or dad could also help out with the drinks and snacks it would be appreciated.
Thank you
Joanne :)
